About Me

Mihajlo Kitanoski

Since I remember about myself I was fascinated about technology. As a kid, I remember "fixing" every single home appiance that I could put my hands on.
I would talk out my 3.5 years younger brother to keep a watch on the window as I would dissasemble our EI NIS TV set, looking and admiring at the shiny circut boards.
Nothing was spared not even our new VCR which shared the same "destiny" the second day it arrived at our house, after my parents went out to work.
My parents were not very happy with this practice of mine, but I remember we were :)

I'm Engineer by my innate nature and I love engineering at it's core. I always seek and admire great engineering practices, and I'm facinated about the idea of building things that have never existed before. I love ThinkPads and I own several of these great machines among them W500 which I rebuld by myself and keep them in pristine condition. We also collect Nintendo products Gameboys, NES, SNES, N64 all kind of different colors and models and lot's of game cartriges, which I refurbish together with the help of my kids. I'm also owner of a several Mercedes Benz models, couple of legendary W124 and several S classes among them 1979 W116 S280 which I also maintain by myself and keep them in a pristine condition. My wife and kids say that these are my "lego" escape, and I think they are probably right :)

I'm ex. Verint, Nokia, Motorola & SUN Microsystems (Oracle). I loved Sun Microsystems hardware, these big enterprise machines powered by Solaris OS were supporting CPUs and RAM hotswap while the machine was still up and running without any downtime. You can execute command and see the processes running on as particular board, then excute command and move these processes on another board, such a remarkable piece of engineering.

I'm avid runner and I love long distance running.

Short Biography

I was born in 1981 in Skopje, at that time the capital of Socialistic Republic of Macedonia one of the six constituent countries of the post-WWII Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
I've spend my childhood and highschool days at my home town Kicevo in the western part of the country (around 112km from the capital Skopje).
My father is Electrical Engineer for Power Systems, and he spend his carrer working as a supervisor at the Power Distribution Company of Macedonia at the local branch in Kicevo (he's now retired). My mom is Medical Doctor Pediatrician, at that time she was working at the City Hospital, she's still active today and she holds private practice. It turns out that I've followed my father footsteps becoming Electrical Engineer (Computer Engineering and Informatics) and my brother folowed my moms becoming M.D. (Interventional Cardiologist) and who would guess, he was only holding a guard while I was "fixing" electrical apliances at our house :)

In 1987 at age of 6 I've started my 1 year preschool education (that is how it was back then) at "Kuzman Josoifovski - Pitu" Elementary School in Kicevo, and at the same time I was enroled at practicing Shotokan Karate.
I was told that that's the way should be, so I took both of them for granted.

The year that followed 1988, I've started my formal education at first grade at same school which lasted for an 8 years until 1996.
During this period I've become obsessed with mathematics, I was subscribed to math magazine Numerus, official magazine of the Union of Mathematicians of Macedonia, designed for elementary school, and I was spending my time solving every math problem published there.

In 1996 I've finished elementary school and same year enrolled at "Mirko Mileski" High School in Kicevo with mayor Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
